Operator and contact
Stroke Gains is operated by Brian Blanchard as its sole operator.
Review required: Confirm the operator’s country, state or region, and any required contact or mailing address. The proposed hello@strokegains.golf inbox is not set up and cannot currently receive legal, privacy, or support requests.
The service
Stroke Gains helps golfers record rounds and shots, read scorecard photographs, correct the readings, and review calculated golf statistics. It is available through web and iPhone clients, with a separate marketing site.
Automated scorecard readings can be incomplete or incorrect. The app provides a review and correction step before finalizing a scanned round. Statistics depend on the recorded shots, course information, and calculation baselines.
Proposed service terms for approval: Review and correct your records before relying on the results. Stroke Gains provides golf-record and analysis tools; it does not promise a particular score, improvement, or coaching outcome. The service may be interrupted for maintenance or by provider outages.
Proposed change process for approval: Explain material service or terms changes before they take effect, including their effect on paid access, and provide a way to review the updated terms. The notice channel, timing, and treatment of existing subscriptions still need to be selected.
Review required: Approve these proposed provisions and any appropriate accuracy, warranty, or liability language before publication.
Accounts and use
Clerk provides account sign-in. An account profile connects the signed-in golfer to their Stroke Gains record. The account screen allows name editing and sign-out.
Proposed rules for approval: Use your own account, protect your sign-in access, submit only content you have permission to use, and do not attempt unauthorized access or interfere with the service.
Review required: Choose the minimum user age, any parental-consent process, and account suspension or termination rules. An adults-only launch has been suggested, but no age requirement has been approved.
Your golf records
Records can include scorecard photographs, a drawn round signature, course and tee selections, round dates and times, shots, corrections, tournaments, and calculated performance statistics. Photos submitted for scorecard reading are processed using Anthropic’s Claude service.
You can enable a stats-sharing link or connect a compatible external tool, including ChatGPT, through the Stroke Gains MCP integration. A stats link allows anyone who has it to view the shared name and statistics. A connected tool can retrieve your authenticated golf records and statistics. Recipients may retain information they receive.
See the Privacy Policy draft for the observed data flows and deletion limits.
Proposed content terms for approval: You retain the rights you hold in the content you submit. You give Stroke Gains permission to store, process, and display that content to operate the service, including processing scorecard images with its providers and sharing data through features you choose to enable. This permission is for operating those features and does not transfer ownership.
Review required: Approve the scope and duration of the proposed permission, including its relationship to deletion and retained records. This review draft itself grants no license.
Planned subscriptions
Production billing is currently disabled. The planned launch requires a subscription for the full app, at USD $7.99 per month with a one-month free trial. The planned purchase providers are Apple In-App Purchase on iOS and RevenueCat Web Billing on the web.
Before a purchase, review the price, currency, taxes, trial eligibility, renewal timing, and cancellation instructions shown by the purchase provider. The offer displayed at checkout determines the offer available to you.
Review required: Confirm the live products, automatic-renewal and trial disclosures, regional pricing, taxes, eligibility, and access after cancellation before enabling billing. The launch plan above is not a live purchase offer.
Cancellation and refunds
Manage a subscription with the provider that billed you. For an Apple purchase, use Apple’s cancellation instructions. Apple advises canceling a trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew.
Apple refund requests go through Apple’s refund process; eligibility varies. RevenueCat Web Billing provides a customer portal for managing web subscriptions, including cancellation. The launch implementation must make that portal available to web subscribers.
Review required: Choose the web refund policy and a working request channel, and verify cancellation and refund flows before launch. Case-by-case web refunds have been suggested but are not approved. This draft promises no refund outcome. Required consumer protections need review for the places where the service will be offered.
Deleting records or accounts
The app can delete an individual round and its calculated facts. The deletion handler also attempts to remove that round’s stored photographs.
The current Clerk account-deletion handler clears the Stroke Gains profile’s email and name, marks the profile deleted, and revokes its stats-sharing link. It retains the account-to-profile mapping and historical golf records, including stored photographs. Account deletion is not currently a complete erasure of Stroke Gains data.
Review required: Approve and implement an account-erasure request process, identity verification, retention periods and exceptions, and how subscription cancellation relates to account deletion. A verified deletion-request process has been suggested but is not yet available.
Outstanding legal review
This draft has no effective date and asks for no acceptance. Before publication, the operator needs to approve the final text and resolve contact information, user eligibility, refunds, retention and deletion, provider arrangements, and applicable law.
Review required: Determine governing law, dispute handling, required Apple app-license terms, service changes and termination, and any warranty or liability language with appropriate legal review. No jurisdiction, waiver, arbitration requirement, or limitation of liability is selected here.
